Trafficlink
and
Neighbourhood Watch
Trafficlink provides information to local and national radio across the UK. They are the biggest information provider in the country. In Sussex information can be heard on Mercury FM, Classic Gold, BBC Southern Counties, Southern FM and Capital Gold.
Trafficlink are asking NHW members in Crawley and Horsham to inform them of any problems you may come across on the roads by ringing a freephone number.
This information will benefit Trafficlink by providing them with a further pool of information providers, to compliment the help they get from the Police, taxi firms, courier companies, radio station listeners and roadside cafes and petrol stations.
Trafficlink need reliable volunteers to ring in with any traffic or road problems. Trafficlink will be able to assist us in giving a higher profile to NHW.
They will be able to credit their sources on their bulletins, so for instance if there is a crash on the A23 at Pease Pottage they can report on Mercury FM that "Jim from Neighbourhood Watch has called in to say that the A23 is blocked by a crash at Pease Pottage, and that there are already northbound queues back two miles.
Trafficlink cannot credit everyone who rings in, but they will be able to regularly "plug" Neighbourhood Watch on the radio and this may increase the sense of involvement of Neighbourhood Watch members.
By remembering to ring the team with ANY traffic problems, you 'will feel part of that team and that you are doing something positive which may assist the police and the community.
Trafficlink is keen to hear about all sorts of traffic problems. They are not just looking for details of accidents, but new roadworks which appear unnoticed.
Queues on roads due to the sheer weight of traffic, the effect that roadworks are having on the traffic. They 'would even be delighted to know if any road which is usually busy is UNUSUALLY QUIET on anyday.
In Short, Trafficlink would be very pleased to hear from you and anything noteworthy about road conditions. If you are travelling about and you have a mobile telephone (you could programme the number in)
the freephone telephone number to ring is:
0500 003 567
Thank you for your help
