Lifeline

Assistance when you need it……

peace of mind when you don’t.

What’s Lifeline?

Lifeline is Crawley Homes’ emergency alarm system for people who may need help without warning. It uses a special unit that combined with your normal telephone becomes an emergency alarm.

How could Lifeline help me?

We all have accidents at home and every year nearly 3 million accidents that happen in the home result in medical attention.

As we get older our balance and sight is not always as good as they were, and our bodies are not as strong.  Falls and accidents in the home can become more common. Lifeline could bring help to you.

If you have a medical condition which means you may need help without warning, Lifeline could alert your family, carer or friends.

I already have numbers stored in my cordless phone for when I need help. Why would I need lifeline?

There is always someone to answer Lifeline, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  The Care Centre doesn’t go on holiday, it doesn’t go shopping, or tie up the phone line talking to friends, they are always there to respond to your call.  Your phone is also fairly big and bulky to carry around, whereas our pendants are small and lightweight.

I don’t live on my own, how would Lifeline be of help to me?

Even if you live with someone they are not always around, there will be times when you are on your own.  Even if they are only out in the garden, they may not realise you have a problem, Lifeline could alert them.

I’m not a council tenant so can I still get one?

Yes, but you would have to live in Crawley, have a medical condition that means you may need help without warning or be of retirement age.

How much will it cost me?

£ 3.05 per week if you are a council tenant. This amount is put on to your rent card so that it can be paid with your rent.

£36.53 + VAT per quarter if you are not a council tenant for which you would receive a bill every quarter. This works out at £ 2.81 + VAT per week. You will also need to pay for your telephone line and your telephone calls in the normal way.

What about the phone I already have?

You keep your own phone, the Lifeline unit goes by the side of it, and your phone will work exactly as it used to.

Will it work from the bottom of the garden?

The Lifeline pendant has a range of approximately 150 feet, from where the unit is.  This covers most average homes and gardens, but we would be happy to test this for you.
