Bogus Callers
Incidence of bogus callers is on the increase in Crawley. They come in various guises and the advice is NEVER allow anyone into their home without proper ID. If at all unsure please ring the company they say they are from or the police, as quickly as possible on 0845 60 70 999.
Shown below is a new poster being given to vulnerable people.

On a similar theme, there follows a warning from Trading Standards about leaflets that may appear through your door; although it refers to the period before Christmas it seems these leaflets are still being delivered.
""Charity Ads. that don't add up.
Consumers wanting to give to charity in the run-up to Christmas could become
unwitting victims of unscrupulous advertisers. The Advertising Standards
Authority (ASA) has received a series of complaints from members of the
public about door drop leaflets and regional press ads appealing for charity
donations that misleadingly imply the advertisers are a registered charity.
One such leaflet reads :"Can you spare your old unwanted clothes for the
people of Eastern Europe. All items collected will be distributed in Charity
shops in Lithuania, Ukraine and Belorussia".
The leaflets fail to make clear
that donated items would be sold for profit by the advertisers."
